The truth about worship is revealed to us by Jesus Christ. When reading the Gospel of John Chapter 4, we have a chance to see what Jesus reveals to the Samaritan women, and also to us, about worship, this very important thing to their culture and to our culture.
Nor the Mount Gerizim, where Samaritans worshipped God, nor Temple in Jerusalem - these are not the only places where God can be worshipped. Jesus reveals to the Samaritan women that from now on God will be worshipped in spirit and in truth. There are no more holy places. The temple where God wants to live are our hearts. God wants to dwell in our hearts.
Jesus reveals how God should be worshipped - in the Spirit and truth. Reborn for a new life in Christ SPIRIT... we walk in the Spirit. Now every place is a place of worship, every task, conversation, situation is like worship to God. Life being thankful to God is what makes Him happy. And when living in such a worship, we can bear the type of fruit we read about in the letter to Galatians. “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.”
Worship - it is life in Christ. Christ says that He is the truth. Scriptures reveal to us that Christ is the living word of God, who has come to earth. God wants that we live in this truth. In the truth that is left for us and we can read about. The truth which God wants us not just to follow and respect... but also to love. That we walk in the Truth, that the truth lives in us, that this truth is in our lives and that our life shows the truth. This is worship. It is a LIFE that God wants to see. It is a life that God has planned for us from the beginning.
